中村学園女子中学校・中村学園女子高等学校

平成30年10月29日(月)、本校の姉妹校であるスルタンイブラヒム女子高等学校を訪問しました。ウェルカムセレモニーでは現地の生徒たちが伝統的な音楽とダンス等の出し物で歓迎してくれました。本校生徒は日本の文化や伝統についてのプレゼンテーションを英語で行いました。

現地の生徒からの出し物の一つに、ハラル料理についてのものがありました。それに対する本校生徒からの質問は、大変洞察力に富んだもので、彼女たちの批判的思考力を垣間見ることができました。このように、午前中は双方の生徒たちにとって、とても有意義な時間となりました。

昼食後はマレーシアの伝統的なスポーツやゲームをして交流しました。

以上が姉妹校交流の一日目です。今日も長い一日でしたが、大変充実したものとなりました。生徒たちはマレーシアの文化の多様性を肌で感じながら、多くのことを学んでいます。

The SGH class started their field work in Malaysia today with a welcome ceremony at Sultan Ibrahim Girls High School.

SIGS Students gave wonderful performances of traditional Malaysian music and dances. The Nakamura students then gave presentations about various aspects of Japanese and Japanese traditional and popular culture.

After the performances, one of the SIGS students gave an informative presentation about Halal cooking, followed by a Q＆A session. Nakamura students showed great critical thinking skills by asking some insightful questions. Overall, the morning session was informative and fun for everyone.

After lunch, Nakamura students learned about – and played – traditional Malaysian games and crafts with the SIGS students.

Chapteh:a game like hacky-sack that is a blend of volleyball, badminton, and soccer. Teng-Teng: the Malaysian name for hopscotch Batu Seremban － like jacks, but played with bean bags

Congkak: A strategy and counting game played with colored beads

Anyaman Kutupat: weaving coconut leaves (usually to make special rice dumplings. Today, the students wove ribbons instead of leaves.

Dice Race: a game where teams roll dice, and walk based on the number that shows up. Odd numbers mean the team moves backward. Even numbers move forward. After 6 rolls, the team which has gone farthest forward wins.

After the games, the first day of the exchange with SIGS was finished. It has been a long day, and there is still a little more to do. But the students are learning a lot about the many cultural influences in Malaysia, and having a wonderful time in the process.
